Looking Good On Your Wedding Day

Airbrush makeup vs normal makeup

Airbrush makeup is a fine mist of foundation that is delicately sprayed over the face using a small spray gun and compressor.   Airbrush makeup gives the appearance of a flawless complexion.  The mist covers the skin lightly allowing the skin to breath – for a very natural finish that is not cakey.

Whatsmore, Airbrush makeup like all professional makeup application, photographs beautifully!  It is a great option for covering tattoos for the big day!

Tip: Make sure you choose a makeup artist that offers a range of Airbrush make up, from Waterbased through to Silicone for the finish you want to suit your skin type.  Some airbrush makeup artists only use one brand which is limiting for you and the finish on your skin.  Always ask this question before booking.  Your airbrush makeup artist should be able to talk you through the options.

‘Airbrush makeup is a great option for a lightweight finish on the skin, and I especially love it for ladies who want a natural flawless makeup finish!  Prepping the skin for airbrush is key!  My personal favourite is the Illamasqua Satin Primer for a beautiful natural sheen to the skin’  Clare Thompson, Airbrush Makeup Specialist at CJ Beauty & Co., Multi Award Winning Bridal Hair and Makeup.

‘Don’t assume that any airbrush makeup is suitable for all skin types – your airbrush makeup specialist will be able to guide you through the best airbrush foundation for your skin type – whether that be a water based foundation, a silicone based, a mineral based or an alcohol based makeup.

A water based system will feel very light on your skin, but on dehydrated skin you’ll be better for a Silicone system….and vice versa!

Silicone based airbrush makeup is a heavier coverage and lasts longer than water based or mineral based airbrush makeup, but it can feel heavier on the skin.  The silicon element makes it water resistant as well.   Alcohol based airbrush makeup can be very drying on the skin, so its not our preferred medium for facial use, but its a great option for body art.

Bridal makeup

This seasons look is really glowing and beautifully natural. Bridal makeup is all about enhancing your natural beauty and making you the very best version of yourself.

Nude palettes are the best option, working with eye shadows a couple of shades darker than your natural skin tone for a soft smokey eye, and a little pop of colour to make your eyes sparkle and light your face up!   You’ll need a really effective primer to take your makeup through the day.  We love Illamasqua’s Veil range.

Colette Johnson and Leanne Myers are the Bridal Makeup Specialists at CJ Beauty & Co.  “ Our customers are asking for flawless skin, and eyes that pop!  Nude peach lips are especially popular this season. We just love Illamasqua Rosepout lipstick and Illamasqua’s Beyond Powder Highlighters are just gorgeous!”

Salinla Mills is our Asian Makeup Specialist

“My customers are asking for more dramatic eye makeup and flirty lashes with a bold lip, and a deep contour!  “

Bridal Hair

This seasons look is all about soft up-dos.

Colette is the Director and leading Makeup Artist and Hair Designer at CJ Beauty & Co.

‘We believe that hair should look like hair!”  Gone are the days of a scraped back bun of barrel curls.  This Summers brides are asking for softer more delicate low buns, and hair loose to frame the face.  Braided undos are still a popular option for bridesmaids or the classic Chignon, and curled ringlets for the younger flower girls.

Hair vines are very popular this season, replacing the more traditional bridal tiara.  More and more brides are choosing fresh flowers in the hair instead of traditional veils too.
